Google DeepMind followed in April. By December, Anthropic donated MCP to the Linux Foundation's new Agentic AI Foundation, co-founded with OpenAI and Block. Today: 97 million monthly SDK downloads, over 10,000 active servers and first-class support in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Visual Studio Code.
